Terms of Service
Last updated: March 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Sweep for Mac — published by General Software, a trading name of Workshop Operations Ltd, registered in England & Wales, Company No. 14842982 — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use Sweep.
These terms apply to the Sweep desktop application and any associated websites, documentation, and support services.
2. License Grant
Subject to your compliance with these terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download and use Sweep for your personal or internal business purposes.
- The 1-Mac plan covers one Mac at a time.
- The 5-Mac plan covers up to five Macs that you own or use. You may switch which Macs are activated whenever you like.
- Subscription plans are licensed for the duration of your active subscription. Access to paid features ceases at the end of the subscription period unless renewed.
- One-time / Lifetime plans are licensed for as long as the application remains supported on your operating system.
This licence does not constitute a sale. All rights not expressly granted are reserved.
3. Restrictions
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of Sweep;
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, except where permitted by applicable law;
- Remove, alter, or obscure any proprietary notices, labels, or branding;
- Use the software for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws or regulations;
- Attempt to circumvent any licensing mechanisms, usage limits, or security features;
- Redistribute licence keys, activation codes, or account credentials.
4. Payment & Billing
Payments for Sweep are processed by our merchant of record, who handles payment processing, invoicing, sales tax, and VAT on our behalf.
- Prices are displayed in your local currency where possible and include applicable taxes.
- For subscription plans, your payment method will be charged automatically at the start of each billing cycle unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- For one-time plans, you are charged once and there is no renewal.
- Receipts and invoices are issued by our payment processor and delivered to the email address provided at checkout.
For questions about billing, refunds, or payment disputes, please refer to our Refund Policy or contact us directly.
5. Free Trials
Sweep is free to download and free to scan everything on your Mac. You can run every scan and see exactly what Sweep would clean before you pay anything. Cleanup is metered on the free tier and unlimited on a paid plan.
- The free tier requires no payment method or credit card.
- Free tier availability and metering thresholds may change at our sole discretion.
6. Intellectual Property
All intellectual property rights in Sweep, including but not limited to software code, design, graphics, documentation, trademarks, and trade names, are and remain the exclusive property of Workshop Operations Ltd.
Nothing in these terms grants you any right, title, or interest in our intellectual property beyond the limited licence described in Section 2. Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about Sweep may be used by us without obligation or compensation to you.
7. User Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the security of your account credentials and licence keys;
- Ensuring that your use of the software complies with all applicable local, national, and international laws;
- Maintaining adequate backups of your data. Sweep removes files to your Trash by default and is reversible, but you remain responsible for your own backups;
- Ensuring your Mac meets the minimum system requirements (macOS 14 Sonoma or later).
8. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, General Software and Workshop Operations Ltd shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with your use of Sweep.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or relating to these terms or Sweep shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
9. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to Sweep at any time if you breach these terms, without prior notice and without liability to you.
- You may stop using Sweep at any time. For subscription plans, you may cancel through the management portal in your receipt email or by contacting us.
- Upon termination, your licence to use the software is immediately revoked. You must cease all use and delete any copies of the software in your possession.
- Sections relating to intellectual property, limitation of liability, and governing law survive termination.
10. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or in-app.
Your continued use of Sweep after any changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. If you do not agree with the updated terms, you must stop using the application.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
If any provision of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
